The Horlicks Factory Printed and digital historical record

A publication to mark the closure of the iconic Slough landmark after 110 years.

We initially created the individual brand for the Horlicks Factory as the site was put up for sale for redevelopment. This took its inspiration from the iconic rooftop, instantly recognisable and familiar to everyone in the local area – supported by a secondary branding echoing the silhouette and architecture of the building itself.

In May 2018, the factory officially shut down as the last bag of Horlicks was filled. Our client, GSK, commissioned a historical book to officially document the history of the factory and as a lasting keepsake to the remaining 95 staff members’ on site.

The 48-page case bound, layflat book with a foil-block deboss hardback cover documents the rich history of Horlicks, product timelines, memories, staff gallery and plans for the next chapter for the building. A copy of the book is available from Slough library; a copy has been entered into GSK’s archive and every staff member received a book – alongside a branded USB containing a digital copy in addition to a film on the factory.
